Where the Irish Setter comes from
Irish Setters were bred in Ireland in the 1700s to find game birds and set, or crouch, in front of them. The red coat became a signature of the breed.
Personality and daily life
Outgoing, sweet-natured and lively. Irish Setters stay playful for many years and love people.
Irish Setters are exuberant redheads who need space to run. Their feathered coat needs regular brushing.
Exercise, grooming and health
