Where the Silky Terrier comes from
The Silky Terrier was developed in Sydney in the late 1800s by crossing Australian and Yorkshire Terriers. The result was a small companion with a long, glossy coat.
Personality and daily life
Spirited, friendly and alert. Silkies are lively and brave, and can bark at every noise. They are good with respectful older children.
Silkies are lively companions that suit city homes. Their long coat needs regular brushing and they can be yappy.
Exercise, grooming and health
Short walks and playtime are enough. The coat needs daily brushing or regular trims. Dental problems and knee problems are common in small dogs.
