Where the Groodle comes from
The Groodle, also called the Goldendoodle, crosses the Golden Retriever with the Poodle. Breeders in Australia and the United States started making them in the 1990s, aiming for the Golden's nature with a coat that sheds less.
Personality and daily life
Warm, playful and sociable, with the intelligence of a Poodle. Most are good with children and strangers, and many are clingy.
Groodles are lively, loving dogs that join in on everything. They need daily exercise and company, and are happiest in a family with a yard.
Exercise, grooming and health
About an hour of exercise a day. Coats range from wavy to curly and need brushing a few times a week and regular clipping. Hip and elbow problems and ear infections occur, and health varies by parent lines.
